Publications and Position Statements

• *Creation of "The Director", the official publication of NADONA.
• "Try This Best Practices in Care of Older Adult Series" in The Nurse in Assisted Living, Journal of the National Assisted Living Nurses Association. Premiere Issue. Summer 2006.

Presentations, Workshops and Seminars

• *Provides an annual conference that includes geriatric care content and LTC nursing management.
• *Regional Workshop in the Fall of 2005, Fall 2006, and at the 2006 NADONA/LTC convention.

Special Interest Groups

• *Establishment of the Scholarship Committee which promotes the pursuit of higher education for members and provides scholarships to fund education.
• *Creation of Education Committee to insure a focus on geriatric content in annual and regional meetings.

Education Modules, Programs and Learning Tools

• *Development of the NADONA/LTC Certification exam.
• *Partnered with other LTC organizations in the development of geriatric clinical practice guidelines for long term care settings.
• *Partnered with LTC organizations and pharmaceutical companies to develop numerous educational videos to address geriatric care and disease processes.

Awards

• *Geriatric Nurse Competency Awards program will be established. This award will recognize a LTC DON who has demonstrated outstanding efforts in the delivery of geriatric care in their facility
