Dr. Mathy Mezey Receives Prestigious Nursing Award

Mathy Mezey, EdD, RN, FAAN, was presented with the 2004 National Gerontological Nursing Association Lifetime Achievement Award at the association's annual convention on October 16, 2004. Dr. Mezey is the director of the John A. Hartford Foundation Institute for Geriatric Nursing and the Independence Foundation Professor of Nursing Education in NYU's College of Nursing. On October 15, Dr. Mezey led the NGNA convention's keynote session, The Palette of Nurses' Contributions to the Care of Older Adults. In her address, she highlighted the accomplishments of gerontological nurses in ensuring excellence in care for older adults living at home, in hospitals, and in institutional long-term-care facilities.
