Certification Tool Kit

Gerontological Nurse Certification recognizes specialization in caring for the booming population of older adults. The Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing Specialty Nursing Initiative and NICHE are proud to announce a Certification Tool Kit to guide health systems to promote gerontological nursing certification to their nurses.

It is co-authored by advanced practices nurses from three NICHE sites: Deborah Marks Conley, MSN, APRN-CNS-BC, FNGNA (Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist, Methodist Hospital & Assistant Professor of Nursing, Nebraska Methodist Hospital & College in Omaha, NE), Arlene Horner, MS, RN, CNS (Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist, Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD), and Rita LaReau, MSN, GNP (Geriatric Clinical Nurse Specialist, Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan).
